During the crisis period due to COVID-19 pandemic, Star Cement always extended its support to neighbouring communities of Meghalaya, Assam & West Bengal by implementing several initiatives:
A COVID Care Centre named as Safe Home was set up in collaboration with CII & CREDAI to treat COVID patients of West Bengal ( Siliguri)
7 nos. Ambulances were provided to the District Authorities & local NGOs to ensure hassle free transition of COVID patients of Meghalaya and west Bengal.
7 nos. of refillable Oxygen Cylinders & Oxygen Concentrators were given to the District Hospitals, Civil Society Organizations of West Bengal and Assam in the time of need.
Around 2000 families staying in containment zones of Assam, Meghalaya and West Bengal were supported with food packets & groceries.
A mass vaccination drive was arranged for the employees & neighbouring communities.
Star Cement served the community during the nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic. Over 150000 people of Meghalaya, Assam and West Bengal were served with grocery items (Rice, Dal, Oil, Potato, Soyabeans, Spices, and Salt etc.), Facial Mask, Sanitizer during the time of need.
As the world was under the clutches of the COVID-19 pandemic, Star Cement initiated a two months long sanitization drive in Mohitnagar and Sonapur and Lumshnong village by engaging community volunteers to sanitize the common areas, market places, common roads, social institutions, cattle shades, and public utility areas and spreading awareness among local villagers.
Star Cement plays major role to serve the flood affected communities of Assam and West Bengal. Over 50000 flood victims are supported with required food items, cooked food, Post Flood Health Check-Up Camps in these locations each year.
