History

2001

With the incorporation of Cement Manufacturing Company Ltd. (CMCL), a star was born.

2005

CMCL's Integrated Unit commenced operations in Lumshnong, Meghalaya with an initial capacity of 0.4 million tonnes per annum.

2007

Our additional grinding unit, Megha Technical & Engineers Pvt. Ltd. (MTEPL), was commissioned in Lumshnong, Meghalaya.

2009

Meghalaya Power Ltd. (MPL), our 8 MW power plant, was unveiled.

2011

Star Ferro and Cement Limited (SFCL) was incorporated.

2012

Star Ferro and Cement Limited demerged from Century Plyboards.

2013

SFCL became a listed company. In the same year, the clinkerisation unit, Star Cement Meghalaya Ltd. (SCML), was commissioned in Lumshnong, Meghalaya with a capacity of 1.75 million tonnes per annum, while Guwahati Grinding Unit (GGU), located in Sonapur, Assam started operations with a capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum.

2014

Star Cement grew its footprint to cover 10 states. At the same time, Star Cement enhanced power generation capacity of Meghalaya Power Limited (MPL) by 43 MW.

2016

Cement Manufacturing Company Limited (CMCL) was rebranded as Star Cement Ltd. (SCL). The company was initially a subsidiary of SFCL, however, following a reverse merger, SCL emerged as a holding company.

2021

Siliguri Grinding Unit (SGU) at Mohitnagar near Siliguri started operations with a capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum.

2024

Star Cement North East Ltd. grinding unit got commissioned with capacity of 2 MTPA in Sonapur, Guwahati & a Clinker unit got commissioned with capacity of 3 MTPA in Lumshnong, Meghalaya.
